A new standard for cyclist animation

Super-realistic
cyclist motion.
Built from reality.

The industry still relies on generic animation cycles and isolated pose estimates. The result is stiff, repetitive, robotic riders. RockYourBody takes a fundamentally different approach: reconstructing the athlete and bicycle as one physical system from real stereo footage, physics and cycling-specific constraints—for spectacularly more natural movement.

01 — THE PROBLEM

A cyclist is not
a floating skeleton.

Human pose detection can identify the rider. It cannot, on its own, explain the ride.

Hands meet handlebars. Feet drive pedals. Weight shifts across a frame that steers, tilts and rolls through space. Every movement belongs to a connected mechanical system.

Truly realistic biker animation can only be achieved by combining state-of-the-art human pose detection, a stereo camera setup for higher accuracy, physics for realism, and cyclist- and bike-specific constraints.

02 — THE METHOD

Four disciplines.
One believable ride.

Each layer resolves ambiguity the others cannot. Together they transform recorded movement into animation that respects both the athlete and the machine.

01

Human pose detection

State-of-the-art models establish the rider’s articulated motion from real footage, preserving the individuality and timing of the performance.

BODY · HANDS · TEMPORAL MOTION
02

Stereo camera geometry

Two calibrated viewpoints reduce depth ambiguity and increase spatial accuracy, anchoring the rider and bicycle in one shared 3D scene.

CALIBRATION · DEPTH · SYNCHRONIZATION
03

Physics for realism

Grounding, balance and continuous motion turn isolated detections into a performance with weight, momentum and credible transitions.

WEIGHT · BALANCE · CONTINUITY
04

Rider–bike constraints

Hands, pedals, saddle, steering and frame geometry are solved as connected relationships—not coincidental points that drift apart.

CONTACT · PEDALING · STEERING
03 — THE PIPELINE

From camera footage
to realistic motion.

  1. 01

    Capture

Synchronized cameras observe the same ride from complementary angles.

  2. 02

    Detect

Human and bicycle evidence is tracked consistently across time.

  3. 03

    Reconstruct

Calibrated views resolve a coherent rider and bike in three dimensions.

  4. 04

    Constrain

Contact points, geometry and physics correct impossible motion.

  5. 05

    Animate

The solved performance becomes reusable, inspectable 3D motion.

04 — THE EVIDENCE

See how realistic
motion is built.

Five views expose how recorded evidence becomes a controllable digital rider—from the complete reconstruction down to hands, rig mapping and final appearance.

01 / OVERVIEW

The full rider–bike system

Follow the synchronized camera evidence, reconstructed rider, articulated bicycle and time-based telemetry in one view. This is the complete result: performance, machine and measured motion staying coherent together.

02 / ARTICULATION

Fine hand motion

Close inspection reveals articulated hands rather than simple wrist markers—essential for believable grip, release and handlebar contact.

03 / STRUCTURE

The skeleton beneath

The reconstructed body rig makes limb structure, joint motion and rider posture inspectable against the bicycle geometry.

04 / RETARGETING

Motion mapped to a rider

Source joints and the target cyclist rig are compared directly, showing how captured movement is transferred without losing posture or timing.

05 / APPEARANCE

One motion, many representations

The same solved ride can drive a plain body, textured skin or production-ready character while the underlying movement stays consistent.

05 — THE LANDSCAPE

Great graphics.
Riders that still feel simulated.

Zwift, ROUVY and MyWhoosh create polished worlds, impressive scenery and compelling indoor experiences. But their rider motion can still feel generalized, rigid and repetitive—more like a robotic animation cycle than the distinctive movement of a real athlete.

01 / VIRTUAL WORLDS

Zwift

Gamified worlds, group riding and structured training create a strong shared experience. Yet generalized pedaling and upper-body motion can make the rider feel disconnected from the person on the bike.

02 / REAL ROUTES

ROUVY

Filmed roads bring convincingly real scenery into the training room. Against that realism, simplified avatar movement and rigid rider-bike contact can become especially noticeable.

03 / TRAINING & RACING

MyWhoosh

Polished virtual courses, workouts and racing build a performance-focused ecosystem. Reusable motion cycles, however, can feel repetitive and miss the nuance of an individual rider.

THE DIFFERENCE
Where cycling platforms render the ride beautifully, RockYourBody reconstructs how the rider actually moves.

It is not another indoor cycling platform. It is a motion-intelligence layer for games, simulators and virtual sport experiences that need a more physically convincing athlete.

  2. 02 Stereo 3D reconstruction
  3. 03 Constrained rider-bike motion
